As I left the third semester last year, I was really thrilled to know what would I be facing in the fourth one? The subjects, the lecturers and all the "this and that" that I needed to know. As usual, I heard all the Communication-based subjects. The presentations, the assessments, the assignments and whatnot. But there was this one subject I hardly heard of previously. When I heard the name "Critical Literacy", I did not even have a single picture in mind of how it works. "Critical Literacy"? Is it, literature? Or is it about the ability of oneself to use the English language distinctively? I was really surprised that it was nothing like those I guessed. Critical Literacy is all about an extreme approach towards a text (article/journal). It nurtures students to actively participate in the thinking process and be challenging thinker. From the very beginning, it has by far been the most interesting subject I have learned in college. I do have my own set of expectations. Out of this subject, I hope to become a good writer as a student and in the future, I dream to make myself an excellent story writer someday. I'm no big fan of writing factual points, I would much rather let my imaginations run wild and free. (:

Expectations and Hopes for Critical Literacy
